The School and its Philosophy

A positive and rigorous teaching approach while respecting rules that apply to everyone.

Since 2018, Diderot Bilingual School has been developing an educational project based on positive student assessment and rigorous supervision. As an independent, secular private school, it currently welcomes 240 students, from pre-kindergarten to middle school.

Our educational project is based on the strong bond established between the teaching staff and families. It specifically includes the school's internal regulations and unfolds across four interdependent dimensions.

Solid learning foundations and intellectual development

Driven by the mission of its educational community, Diderot Bilingual School is resolutely focused on the future. It offers and implements a project-based pedagogy that is open to the world and integrates new technologies.

50% of the curriculum, based on the core programs of the French National Education system, is taught in English.

The quality of its teaching matches its high standards. This ambition is fostered in an environment that inspires a desire to learn and teach, as well as a commitment to progress together.

The educational project of Diderot Bilingual School emphasizes the value of effort. It encourages teamwork, solidarity among students, as well as the development of autonomy, critical thinking, and independence.

Each child receives special attention and personalized support, according to their needs or any difficulties they may have. Support classes, 'Homework Help' sessions for middle schoolers, and 'close pedagogical support' modules are organized to strengthen methodological aspects and consolidate each student's learning.

This educational environment aims to develop self-confidence and the joy of learning, thanks to a teaching approach that supports and encourages, as well as positive student assessment.

Self-development and sharing

Throughout their development, the child needs a structuring framework, primarily consisting of the family circle and school. This framework allows them to build a foundation of skills necessary for their present and future well-being.

This non-academic foundation reinforces school learning and lays the groundwork for a harmonious life.

Adults, both parents and teachers, support them in this learning process and serve as role models. Their well-being is based on a strong sense of security.

The child must understand that, no matter what happens, an adult will be able to protect them. They must feel worthy of interest and valued in order to discover themselves and the world around them.

This is the key objective of transitioning to Diderot Bilingual School. The child must develop towards autonomy and acquire strong, affirmed values, such as self-esteem and esteem for others, respect for all differences, tolerance, generosity, solidarity, mutual aid, as well as attention to the weakest and most disadvantaged.

The child's intellectual development, rooted in a set of stable values, will enable them to build their identity and find their place with discernment.

Later, they will be able to make conscious decisions, make thoughtful choices, adopt a critical perspective, defend their convictions, find their place and act within a group, and become a responsible citizen, an active participant in their own journey.

To develop, the child relies on the common values upheld by Diderot Bilingual School

  • Establish and enforce rules for community living for both children and adults
  • Define what is negotiable and non-negotiable
  • Create a framework
  • Emphasize sharing, respect, and freedom
  • Combat all forms of discrimination
  • Instill values of tolerance and solidarity
  • Foster relationships and exchanges
  • Develop social interactions
  • Encourage positive behaviors
  • Introduce environmental protection
Bilingualism, openness to others and to the world

The stated aim of École Bilingue Diderot is to offer students, from the beginning of their schooling, enhanced and sustained English language learning.

To this end, we are developing a partnership with Cambridge Assessment International Education.

The school promotes the organization of study trips as well as linguistic and cultural stays abroad.

These activities are integrated into the curriculum of each class and are prepared and used during lessons.

Encountering and observing different cultures fosters a child's reflection on the world around them, encourages them to question others, sharpens their curiosity, and enriches their knowledge.

Education at home and education at school

Families who choose to enroll their child at École Bilingue Diderot express a desire for true continuity between the education provided at home and that offered at school. It is therefore essential to establish ongoing collaboration, based on dialogue, exchange, and mutual support, in all aspects of the educational project.

The family thus becomes a full partner to the school, both through regular monitoring of the child's progress and through their participation in school life (class representatives, participation in councils and committees, accompanying outings or trips, sharing experiences, hosting interns, etc.).

We believe that the quality of relationships between families and the school is a determining factor in students' schooling, and indeed, an essential condition for their success.
